Remo Frame Drum – Renaissance or Fiberskyn – which one to choose

Here I’m comparing my Remo 16″ Fiberskyn frame drum which I bought a while ago, maybe in 2020, and the Renaissance skin version which I bough in 2022. The later is made in Taiwan.

I have a feeling that they changed the quality and that new drums don’t sound nearly as good as the old ones. A friend of mine got a 16″ Fiberskyn just like mine but it sounds like a 14″ or worse.

However, I was able to improve the sound of the Renaissance one by using a hairdryer. In more recent clips of mine, you will see how the sound has changed.
